The plot of the movie revolves around the character of Chanthu Chekavar who was an infamous warrior in 13thcentury North Malabar. The flick is all about the heroics, love, lust, betrayal and guilt through which Chanthu Chekavar has to gone through in his life.Without any doubt we can say that Jayaraj had given a terrific visual experience with this movie named Veeram. The way he had written and directed this movie speaks volumes about the caliber of this director. Each and every shot in this movie bears the signature of a master craftsman. The detailing in the screenplay was fabulous and most of the time the visuals spoke to the audience than the characters. He had presented the plot with all its grandeur and maintained a tight grip over the proceedings as well. The action sequences were shot magnificently and the mixing up of two well- known stories was perfect as well.
Kunal Kapoor had done a terrific job as Chanthu Chekavar. He had become the character mentally and physically and the intensity with which he portrayed the emotions and inner conflicts of this character was just stunning to say the least. Artists like Shivjith Nambiar, Himarsha Venkatsamy, Satheesh Menon, Divina Thakur, Aarn, Bilas Nair, Gopan, Justin Antony etc also done their part to perfection.Music by Jeff Rona has been magnificent and DOP from S Kumar had lifted the movie to another level. It was just fantastic. Appu N Bhattathiri’s editing was great and the VFX and sound design team also deserves appreciation for their great contribution for this movie.
In Total, Veeram is never seen before Cinematic experience in Malayalam Cinema and don’t miss this movie from big screens. It is big in all sense and will worth each penny you spend to watch it.
